Srinagar, April 26 (KNO) : Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Friday condemned extension in judicial remand of resistance leader Muhammad Yasin Malik and also his continuing incarceration, which according to him could prove fatal for his already deteriorated health. Sehrai also condemned issuing NIA summon to family member of jailed TeH leader Altaf Ahmed Shah and the ED notice to the daughter of Shabir Ahmed Shah. Terming these moves as ‘frustration and desperation’ of GOI, Sehrai as per a statement issued to KNO said “the harassment of family members kith and kins of incarcerated leaders are vengeful and inhuman acts.” He said the GOI using its agencies aggression of NIA and ED against Kashmiri resistance leaders as a toll to suppress the ongoing freedom struggle and push people of Kashmir and its representatives into submission which is infact their sole aim. Sehrai expressed his deep concern over the worsening health condition of jailed Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) leader Fahmeeda Sofi who is suffering from severe arthritis and unable to move now including Peer Saifullah who is brain Tumor patient and despite such dangerous ailments authorities not providing them proper medical assistance, which is highly obnoxious behavior and brazen violation of prisoners’ rights. “All prisoners should be treated with the respect due to their inherent dignity, political belief and value as human beings,” he said, adding that prisoners must have access to the health services available without discrimination. Sehrai appealed international community and rights groups across the globe to conduct a thorough visit of various Indian and other jails of Jammu and Kashmir to take the note of ‘inhuman treatment’ meted out to prisoners to get firsthand account of the pain and atrocities inflicted on Kashmiri prisoners and facilitate their unconditional release.(KNO)
